Building the Language Learning Tool I Always Wished I Had
Hi, I’m Noah Wilson, a 24-year-old solo developer from Kentucky with a passion for languages and technology. My journey with language learning began in high school, where I was the only student to study Chinese and take the AP Mandarin exam. Learning a language in isolation was challenging, and I found it difficult to find opportunities for real-time speaking and listening practice. That challenge stayed with me, and it’s what inspired me to create Polyglot AI. I wanted to build a tool that would make learning languages more interactive and accessible for people like me—those who are passionate about languages but need more than static lessons. While I had a 200-day streak on Duolingo, I felt that something was missing. I wanted more—real conversation, real practice, and real growth. The release of OpenAI's GPT-4 gave me the tools I needed to make that vision a reality. With AI's ability to simulate real-time language partners, I could finally build the language learning software I wished I had as a teenager. Polyglot AI now offers learners the chance to practice speaking, listening, and improving their language skills in a way that's both personal and dynamic. I'm excited about what it can do for others—helping people around the world unlock new languages, is what I’ve always dreamed of doing.
